Bentley Continental GTC V8 “Timeless Series”

As if the standard Continental GTC wasn’t special enough, to celebrate the run-out of the 2nd generation model, Bentley has released a limited number of super-luxurious and contemporary convertibles and labelled them the “Timeless Series” and I went to have a sniff around one at my local Bentley dealership as I heard they had one in stock.

Curated as a homage to the last 14 years of unparalleled craftsmanship, the “Timeless Series” GTC will be offered up in 7 different colour and trim combinations – Light Ice, Glacier, Camel, Onyx, Havana, Anthracite and Dark Sapphire. The particular model on display at Cambridge Bentley is finished in Glacier White and I must admit I would usually steer clear of white cars, but this one looks stunning in the flesh.

Adopted from the Continental GT Speed, the design and body shape was created using a state-of-the-art process called “Superforming” giving the car crisp and clean lines.

There are some subtle changes and additions both on the outside and inside. On the exterior, there are some special polished 21″ seven twin-spoke Mulliner Driving Specification wheels, a full body-coloured bodykit adopted from the GT Speed and black brake callipers along with “Timeless Series” badges on the wings.

Only the highest quality soft-touch leather is used to make the seats in the GTC, making it one of the most luxurious and comfortable places on Earth.

Inside, the usual veneer has been replaced by a new Liquid Amber one which is extended to the door panels and rear of the car and the seats are diamond stitched with wonderful soft-touch leather and also have massaging functions and are heated and ventilated, making it the perfect place to be, whatever the temperature. Along with these extra features, the GTC also has the usual Bentley refinements like a Breitling analogue clock, brushed aluminium dials and vents all finished with an unrivalled level of quality.

In the UK and Europe, there is only one engine choice, the 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 from the GT V8 S that produces a potent 528PS that propels the car from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. The American market will have the larger 6.0 twin-turbocharged W12 unit.

Every Bentley is a “special” Bentley, but if you want one that stands out from the others, then the Timeless may be the one for you. Like all Continental GTCs, it has a beautiful presence and that V8 engine really is fantastic, but the extra veneer inside and little extra touches really make this car look the part. Perfect for that blast across Europe and the slow cruise along the Riveria when you get there.

21″ 7 twin-spoke polished wheels are a Mulliner Drivers Specification optional extra, but definitely worth the extra cost.
