1965 Volkswagon SO42 Westfalia Split Screen Camper 1500cc – NOW SOLD

  • stock # 112

Affectionately named Edith, this Volkwagen Camper has retained all the charm and charisma it had when it rolled out of Wolfsburg back in 1965. The van was originally ordered to the highest possible specification and shipped to an American debutant and has now found its way to the UK where it was registered on UK plates in 2018. The original interior was built and installed by Westfalia, however, the cupboards and cabinets have since been replaced by polished hardwood units of the same style as the originals.

The camper was originally specced to an incredibly high level and was undersealed from the factory in Germany and from then it has always been stored over the winters. As a result, the underside is clean and rust-free along with the rest of the vehicle. There is also a fully comprehensive history of receipts to validate this vehicle’s condition and mileage along with the original bill of sale. It recently benefitted from a complete engine and running gear replacement that also comes with the relevant receipts and invoices. The replacement engine has now covered 29,000 miles.

With this being a Special Order 42 van, it comes with a pop-top roof giving full standing room for the occupants and the rock’n’roll bed has been reupholstered in a light grey leathercloth and is very comfortable. Other SO42 features include the louvred side windows and courtesy light. This is an exceptional example of a much-sought-after classic camper and with values of these now rising every year, this is a fantastic investment opportunity. German-built split-window campers are very hard to come by and this particular model is one of the rarest.

This wonderful and characterful camper does come with an MOT and is HPI clear and also has an agreed insurance value certificate from Footman James and an international concourse VW builder certified at €65,000. With this being a US-ordered vehicle, it is LHD. It is also tax and MOT exempt. The van can be serviced and delivered to England or Wales if required.

The owner of this beautiful camper is open to part exchange offers.

This fabulous and incredibly rare Volkswagen is being advertised on behalf of a client and is located in High Peak, Derbyshire and viewings are strictly by appointment only. For more information, please call +44 (0) 7714 705492
