The 1965-1966 cars were the smallest and lightest of the GT350 models. All 1965-66 cars featured the K-Code 271 hp 289, modified to produce 306 hp. 1965-1966 GT350s were delivered from Ford’s San Jose assembly plant as “bodies in white” for modification by Carroll Shelby’s operation, originally in Venice Beach and later at Los Angeles International Airport.
Finished in Wimbledon White with blue Le Mans stripes, this 1966 Mustang Fastback has been recently restored and rebuilt to recreate the Shelby GT350 Mustangs of the same year. This particular car is powered by a rebuilt 5.0 litre Ford Motorsport 289 cubic inch V8 mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox which replaced a 3 speed automatic gearbox during the restoration process. Outside, the car has been subject to a full restoration and respray and is in very good condition for the age and even comes with the correct bonnet pins and side decals.
Inside, the car has benefited from new period-correct style seats with ponies embossed in the backrests and the original dash with the original radio. The car starts and runs perfectly and the sound of that 5.0 V8 is sure to put a smile on the face of the occupants and spectators alike.
Only 562 genuine GT350s were produced, so this is a fantastic opportunity to own a stunning recreation that still looks and drives just as good as the originals.
This fabulous recreation of a true 60s poster car is located in Chichester and viewings are strictly by appointment only. For more information, please get in contact now on 07388 328229.
