The 993 Porsche 911 was the last of the air-cooled 911s and as such, are widely coveted by Porsche enthusiasts and considered the last of the traditional Porsche 911s. This Targa example features the debut of Porsche’s “greenhouse” system – a retractable glass roof that remained a feature on the Targas through to the 997 model variant. The glass roof retracts underneath the rear window to open up the roof whilst still maintaining the cars iconic coupe profile when not retracted. This innovative new design eliminated the inconvenience of having to manually remove the centre roof panel and store it as used in the previous variant.
The 911 Targa is powered by a 285bhp, 3.6-litre naturally aspirated flat-6 boxer engine located at the rear of the car that is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox – another first for the 993-generation of 911s. This powertrain can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.3 seconds, making a swift and powerful sportscar even by today’s standards.
This particular example of the 993 Targa has been meticulously looked after and maintained throughout its life and comes with a fully comprehensive main Porsche dealer service history and has recently undergone some light remedial work including a full professional interior and exterior detail and ceramic coat protection application along with a recent suspension refurbishment and also some interior upgrades including a factory-supplied Porsche Classic Communication Management unit that provides Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Porsche CD Card-based satellite navigation and other features housed in a period-correct unit. A new handbrake lever and gearstick have also been supplied from Porsche.
This car comes on the standard Targa 17″ alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot “N” rate tyres, however, the option to buy a full set of the larger Turbo wheels is also available.
